Is a personal pension right for me?
This section of the guide sets out what you should think about before you take out a personal pension.
What are my pension options?
Before you take out a personal pension, you should think about all the other options that are open to you. We explain these options over the next few pages. The most important question to ask yourself is whether a personal pension will give you a better pension than the State Second Pension or any other arrangement, such as an occupational pension or a stakeholder pension (click here for more details on stakeholder pensions).
There is more information on your pensions options in the FSA guide to saving for retirement – starting to save. Click here for details about how you can get a copy of this leaflet.
If you are not sure what to do for the best, you may want to get advice from a financial adviser. But remember, if you see a financial adviser you may have to pay for their advice.
