If you are registered as a foster carer from April 2003
From April 2003, Home Responsibilities Protection is available to registered foster carers. You will need to have been approved by the local authority, voluntary agency or private agency you work for throughout a full tax year.
What do I need to do?
You will need to claim Home Responsibilities Protection and show that you have been a registered foster carer throughout the tax year (6 April to 5 April). This should be a letter of confirmation, from the local authority or agency you work for, that you have been an approved foster carer throughout the full tax year. See How do I claim Home Responsibilities Protection? for more details on how to claim.
