If you are looking after someone who has a long-term illness or disability
There are several ways to make sure you are protecting your basic State Pension (and building up State Second Pension if possible). You need to make sure you choose the best one for you.
The following information should help you make the decision, but you can contact your nearest pension centre, Jobcentre Plus, Jobcentre or social security office for more advice (details are in your phone book).
How can my State Pension be protected?
Your State Pension can be protected through:
- Income Support;
- Carer’s Allowance; or
- Home Responsibilities Protection.
