About Pensions Information.com

Pensions Information.com was set up by a pensions professional with many years experience in the Pensions Industry. Our "manifesto" is to provide a resource of material on pensions, accesible to everybody with an internet connection.

Pensions guides

A large part of the material on this site comes from an excellent series of guides, produced by the Department of Work and Pensions. I had been researching the extent of pensions information available on the internet and came across this series. These guides were only available in "pdf" format. "pdf" files can take a prohibitavely long time to download (especially with a dial-up connection) and require a seperate piece of software to be downloaded in order to view them. They are also less "web-friendly" than other formats, such as "html". On this site, I have coded these guides using the web-friendly "html" format, making them more accessible to a greater number of web-users. I have also included "hyperlinks" in the text to connect the user (you) directly to any further sources of information mentioned.

Further material

We have also included a series of book reviews to point users in the direction of further material and a "news feed" which compiles pensions stories from other internet resources. We are currently working on a series of articles to compliment the information given in the guides.

Accesibility

We firmly believe that information displayed on the internet should be accesible to all web users and have included a number of other features to aid accesibility to members of the net community with restricted abilities. There are many groups in the community, such as the visually impaired, the deaf and those with limited manual dexterity whose needs are often overlooked by web designers. Attention has also been paid to users who are not fortunate enough to be viewing this site using the latest technology. We ensure that "next-best" substitutes are offered for any features of the site not supported by older technology. At Pensions Information.com we endevour to cater for as many of these groups as we can and have taken many measures to achieve this goal. Some examples are shown below:-

We aim to sustain the growth of this site so it becomes as comprehensive and accesible as possible, providing the widest variety of information to the widest variety of users.
